Carrington Steam Rally - 30/10/2001
The rescheduled Carrington rally was held over the last weekend in September, the event had been postponed from its usual May date due to the Foot and Mouth outbreak. Unfortunately the organisers again suffered with severely muddy conditions and this after last years event had to be cancelled because of similar circumstances.
When we arrived at about midday on Sunday many of the exhibits had already left and it would have been simply impossible for anything else to get on to the rally site. Nevertheless there were a number of engines in steam and for my money the best collection of steam ploughing engines seen this year.
Nearly all of the engines were confined to a yard with hard standing near to the rally site, whilst this did not make photography easy it provided an alternative backdrop. I look forward to next years show, and hope that the bad luck that the show has suffered will not prevent it from taking place.
