Wolf Steam Engine
Robert Newbigging of New South Wales, Australia has kindly sent us these pictures of his steam engine to put up on the site. The engine was manufactured by Wolf in 1897 and has an interesting history.
The engine started it working life powering a shearing equipment. It then moved to a saw mill in the Walcha district in around 1930, it was however never used and stood idle until 1975. The engine was then moved again, unfortunately whilst it was being loaded it was dropped, breaking the flywheel and bending the crankshaft.
Robert was originally told of the engine in 1992 and finally secured its sale in 2000, adding it to his sizable collection of vintage machinery. Robert has asked if anyone could supply him with information on the original colour of the engine. If you do have any ideas please email us and we will pass your message on to him. We wish Robert all the best with the restoration and we will be only too happy to publish some more pictures once the engine has been returned to its original glory.
